I was born in Genova, Italy. After a University degree (Laurea) at the University of Milano, Italy in 1988, I worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania (1991-1994) and at Oxford (1995-1998). Following an Assistant Professorship at Lund University, Sweden (1999-2002) and a Senior Investigator Fellowship at Rigshospitalet, Denmark (2003-2005), I joined the Department in 2005, where I currently hold a “Profesor Titular B” position. I also worked as Sabbatical Fellow in Dr. Manel Esteller's group at PEBC-IDIBELL, Barcelona, Spain (2011-2012) and in Dr. Angelo Santino's group at CNR-ISPA, Lecce, Italy (January-July 2022).
